From the Aldalur Etxebarria family, we would like to welcome you to Azkue, our rural house in Aia. Our names are Joxemari and Nagore, and our three children are Andere, Enea and Joanes, a farming family dedicated to defending a rural lifestyle. Like all old farmhouses in the Basque Country, ours has its own name. The name is Azkue, and both the rural house and the family living there are known as such by all the inhabitants of Aia. Azkue’s walls house a long history, since it dates back to the 17th century, specifically the year 1610. The coat-of-arms on the façade reminds us of the house’s noble origins. An infinity of lives have taken place here; lives always joined to the earth, to work.
The passing of time made the farming house turn to agricultural tourism in 2003. The house’s dimensions led to improvements taking place over the course of a few more years, until in 2011, with the last important renovation, it was totally restored and available to our guests as a rural house in Gipuzkoa.
Agricultural tourism, located in one of the most beautiful locations on the Basque Country’s coast, offers one the chance to enjoy both mountain and sea. From the house’s terrace, you can see the sea, since we are next to Zarautz and Orio, and very close to Donostia-San Sebastian. Furthermore, you will see that the house is surrounded by green meadows and beech and oak forests, reminding us that we are at the heart of the Natural Pagoeta Park.
Our wish is for you to come to our house to relax and enjoy, to forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a few days, to take a breather… We want to share our life with you at the farmhouse, next to the sea and the mountains. As such, we will do everything in our power to make your stay at our rural lodging as satisfactory as possible. You will share our day-to-day with us in an idyllic setting, surrounding by animals, and you will enjoy our culture and cuisine.
In short, you will have an unforgettable experience, and we are convinced you will want to repeat it.

“The best part was how clean it was and the fantastic bedside manner of the owners. The children were delighted with the farm animals and Josemari’s explanations”.
